Welcome To The Engine Shed
Engine Shed Closure
We have had to come to the regrettable decision that it is not feasible to continue our current operations because of lack of financial viability. This will mean that we will now plan how to wind down the current operations, which will in reality mean the closing down of the Engine Shed, over the next six months.
For more information click here, contact us directly on 0131 6620040 or email email@example.com - in the meantime continue to support us by visiting our cafe, booking our conference facilities, visiting us at the farmers market, buying our products etc - we would like to work hard and stay positive right until the end.
Who we are
The Engine Shed is a social enterprise that helps young people with learning disabilities gain skills in a real work environment and supports them to move into mainstream, paid employment. Trainees work alongside staff in our vegetarian café, organic bakery, organic tofu production unit and conference centre and help deliver a great service to customers while developing skills for life. We think our young trainees are extra special and pride ourselves on the quality of everything we do.
Where to find us
All our services are based at The Engine Shed, St Leonard's Lane, Edinburgh. This is a lovely old building with a unique atmosphere, conveniently near the centre of the city. With Arthur's Seat a stones-throw away and both the Pleasance and Queen's Hall within a few minutes walk, our café is popular with walkers and festival-goers as well as with our many regulars who tell us it is a great place to meet up with friends.
Buy our products!
If you want to sample Engine Shed products come to the café where you will always find our fresh bread, cakes, houmous, tofu etc. on the menu as well as available to buy from a stand within the café. A wide range of bakery and tofu products are also for sale every Saturday morning at our stall at the Edinburgh Farmer's Market. We are happy to take orders from individuals or business so please get in touch to discuss.
